LVORC & Tutor Agreement
Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County, Inc. agrees to:
- review potential students and their situations with you and have your approval before making a match
- assign you to a student at a time and location convenient for you
- suggest a tutoring site that might be convenient for you to use
- offer help, information and library material's throughout your tutoring situation
- offer in-service training opportunities where you can become acquainted with new methods and materials, ask questions and share experiences with other tutors
- assist if problems arise with any aspect of the tutoring situation
Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County, Inc. asks that you agree to:
- pay the $35 materials fee (scholarship money is available if needed)
- respect the anonymity of your student and the confidentiality of your student's situation
- attend tutoring sessions and be on time, notifying your student when you cannot make a session
- keep a record of your tutoring with number of hours taught, preparation time, materials used, methods, goals and progress toward them and background information on your student
- attend at least one in-service workshop annually to keep your training up to date
- encourage your student to enroll in adult education classes
- encourage your student to come with you to LVA sponsored activities
- notify the office of address or phone number changes for you or your student
- notify the office when you have any problem that affects your tutoring situation - i.e. sporadic student attendance; tutoring site problem, etc.
- notify the office if you discontinue tutoring
- agree to comply with recertification requirements
