Other Literacy Organizations Serving the Capital District Area
Literacy Volunteers - Mohawk/Hudson - Albany and Schenectady Counties , is a non-profit literacy organization that provides free and confidential, one-on-one tutoring to adults seeking help with basic reading and writing skills (from non-readers up to 8th grade level) or conversational English to speakers of other languages. Trained volunteers provide two hours of individualized instruction, once or twice a week, in mutually convenient locations throughout Albany and Schenectady counties. Literacy Volunteers are dedicated to helping people gain independence through the attainment of their individual literacy goals. In addition, Literacy NY offers consultation services and support to literacy organizations nationally.
