Tutor Recertification
Tutors will be recertified every three years effective beginning July 1, 2001, by the Executive Director and/or Coordinator or the LVA-GRC.
Tutors must meet the following criteria:
- Regular attendance at and timeliness for tutoring sessions.
- Recording and reporting of student progress and volunteer hours on a quarterly basis.
Tutors must meet a minimum of 2 of the following criteria:
- Attend one in-service training per year. (This may be fulfilled by attending one of our in-service workshops for tutors or attend related sessions at local, regional, state or national conferences.)
- Attend one tutor-sharing session per year.
- Attend other planned gatherings of affiliate. (e.g. - Annual Dinner, Fall Festival Dinner, planned student/tutor outings, etc.)
- Submit sample lesson plans.
- Have a tutoring performance review conducted by staff.
Guidelines for Implementation:
- A file will be kept on each tutor with the appropriate materials. (e.g.- proof of attendance at workshops or gatherings, lesson plans, etc.)
- These files will be reviewed by the Executive Director, Coordinator, or qualified volunteer each April to ensure that the tutor is fulfilling his/her responsibilities.
- The tutor will be issued a new tutor card every three years at our Annual Meeting in June.
Evaluation of the Process:
- Each June the Program Committee will review the process to recertify the Tutors and make changes as necessary.
