"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world, it's the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead Introduction Volunteers can help in many ways.. there is always a need for tutors.. but there are also opportunities to provide other types of assistance to the Literacy Volunteers organization, for example, as office workers, event workers and coordinators, computer and administrative help, etc. Part-time, full-time, any-time..if you have the interest we have a need and can use your help! Volunteer Orientation Sessions Potential tutor volunteers are asked to attend an Orientation Session which will provide you with an overview of Literacy Volunteers operations and answer any questions you may have regarding how you can help (Attendance at Orientation Sessions is not necessary for non-tutor short-term, sporadic volunteers such as Event Workers, Event Committee Workers, etc.) Orientation Sessions are scheduled at libraries (and some other locations) throughout Rensselaer County and are usually less than an hour in length.
