Please join us in thanking the sponsors, donors, volunteers, actresses and participants who helped to make the 2021 Famous Ladies' Tea a success. Proceeds from this annual celebration of literacy and Women's History Month will make it possible to provide free literacy programs and services to adults and children in Rensselaer County and Albany County. Sponsors of this year's event include Aflac; Blasch Precision Ceramics; Cohoes Savings Foundation; Hilton Garden Inn, Troy; the Record; and Stewart's Dake Family.
The Annual Appeal is underway!
Contributions can be made at any time by using the link on this website or by sending a check to LVORC, 65 First Street, Troy, NY 12180.
Don’t forget that when you shop on AmazonSmile, a portion of the proceeds of every order will benefit LVORC’s free literacy programs and services in Rensselaer County and Albany County.
Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County (LVORC) is expanding its presence and literacy services in the community by taking over the literacy work of the Albany office of Literacy New York Greater Capital Region. Anyone who might like to be a literacy tutor or to volunteer in any way is welcome to join a Volunteer Opportunities Information Session. Check the Events Calendar for details.
LVORC is offering in-person tutoring, testing, intake, etc. with specific safety requirements in place. We can also continue remote instruction for the time being. Tutors and learners can choose the type of instruction that suits them at this point in time.
All students, visitors and volunteers will be required to make an appointment before coming to the office. Please call (518) 244-4650 to schedule an appointment.
All will be informed when setting up the appointment of the requirements that include wearing a face covering, using hand sanitizer, having temperature taken, completing a health screening, and signing in before meeting with any staff or using any spaces (resource room, conference rooms).
We ask for your full cooperation in following these guidelines for the safety of all.
Thank you – together we can continue to make a positive difference during these difficult times. Be safe and stay healthy!
