Make your New Year’s resolution now, and start making a difference in the life of a learner. Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County announces the Winter 2014 Tutor Training Workshop. The sessions will be held on Saturdays starting at 9:30 a.m. on January 4th at the HVCC Viking Child Care Center, DCC Room BO5, Williams Road, Troy.
This modular workshop prepares volunteers to provide free tutoring to Basic Literacy Learners and/or English Language Learners. Participants will learn how to tutor adults using an interactive and learner-centered whole language approach. During the training, tutors will be paired with students to begin providing 2 hours of one-to-one or small group instruction per week.
Please come to a one-hour volunteer opportunities information session prior to enrolling in a tutor training workshop. The next information session is on Saturday, November 23rd at 9:30 a.m. in the HVCC Viking Child Care Center, DCC Room BO5, Williams Road, Troy.
