| Additional comments or student accomplishments. | Betul's immigration status is foremost in her mind. She received a Notice of Continuance because she left the US for over 6 months after receiving her green card, to take care of all their affairs in Turkey before she and their son moved to the US permanently. That time period is being interpreted as Betul "abandoning her US residency." She has consulted with an attorney who works for The Legal Project, and submitted a file of documents to the USCIS, arguing her case that she did not give up her US residency status. She will wait for their response. She and her husband have now been certified as foster parents for Northern Rivers and are awaiting a child to be matched with their family. Betul is actively investigating teacher assistant certification, and has a goal to develop a resume using Job Zone. Her confidence has increased to the point where she is ready to pursue this steps toward employment. |
