Betul was sworn in as a US citizen on December 3, 2021. She made an appointment to have a zoom meeting with Marsha Lazarus, through the public library system, about resume and career plans. She spent two days shadowing a teacher assistant at Saddlewood Elementary School. She is interested in that job. She hopes to volunteer there if the school will allow it, so she can gain some experience.
Betul's missing purse was returned, with everything in it (even the cash). It had not been stolen; she had left it in the doctor's exam room, a nurse found it and put it in her desk for safekeeping, then was not back in the office for 11 days. Although it was a frustrating experience, it was an excellent real-life opportunity for Betul to use her English.

Program goal changes

Betul is intent upon getting a job this year, now that she has attained citizenship. She will meet with Marsha Lazarus in January. She has a Job Zone account. She is beginning to prepare a resume, although her education and work experience in Turkey do not relate to her present job goal (teacher/classroom aide).
