Beautiful weather made this year’s Literacy 5K Run/Walk a big success! The event took place on Sunday, May 7, at the Corning Preserve along the Hudson River. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities participated in an Adult 5K, a Youth 1-mile run and a Young Cub quarter mile. Proceeds from this fundraiser make it possible for Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County to offer literacy programs and services at no cost to adults in the Capital Region.

The winners in the Adult 5K are: 1st Male – Joseph Altobello, 1st Female – Janine Griffith, 2nd Male – Michael Kleinman, 2nd Female – Carolyn West, and 3rd Male – Ryan Smith, and 3rd Female – Amy Drag.

In the Youth mile, 1st Female – Lujayn Poinsette and 1st Male – Andrew West. The first place finishers in the quarter mile are, Amir Robinson (M) and Jamyrah Monforte (F). Thanks for everyone’s participation in this fun family day!
